HYRUM, Utah, June 16, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Two motorcyclists collided late Saturday evening after one crossed the road’s centerline in Cache County.
The incident happened on State Route 101, also known as Blacksmith Fork Canyon Road, near Hyrum, at about 8:30 p.m.
The first motorcyclist was a 26-year-old man, eastbound on a 2007 blue Suzuki. The second was a 27-year-old man, traveling west on a 2004 white Kawasaki.
“The first vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed,” Utah Highway Patrol trooper Luis Silva told Gephardt Daily.
“The first driver crossed the center line and both motorcyclists struck, leg to leg. They were both thrown from their bikes.
“The first driver, the 26-year-old, suffered fatal injuries. The second driver, who is 27, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.”
The second driver was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital for treatment, Silva said.
The name of the man who died has not yet been released.
