VERNAL, Utah, Jan. 9, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Vernal Police Department is searching for a suspect who allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven with his face covered by a bandana in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

A Facebook post from Vernal PD said the officers were dispatched to a reported robbery at the convenience store located next to McDonald’s on Highway 40 in Vernal at approximately 4:30 a.m.

The suspect fled the scene within the two- or three-minute time frame it took for officers to arrive, the post said.

“Video footage from the store and the surrounding area shows a man wearing a bandana approaching the store, entering the store and demanding money and cigarettes, and leaving the store toward the north,” the post goes on. “The robbery yielded the offender a small amount of money and three cartons of cigarettes.”

Investigators are attempting to identify and apprehend the suspect, the post said.

The suspect is shown in surveillance footage wearing a black beanie, black bandana over his face, a black long-sleeve T-shirt, black pants and black shoes.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any information about the incident is asked to call the Vernal Police Department at 435-789-5835, or Central Dispatch at 435-789-4222.
