June 14 (UPI) — A man opened fire at a UPS mailing center in downtown San Francisco, killing at least two people Wednesday, authorities said.
The gunman targeted the UPS San Francisco Customer Center in the city’s Potrero Hill district in southeast San Francisco, on San Bruno Avenue between 16th and 17th streets, just off the Bayshore Freeway.
A witness told the San Francisco Chronicle that the shooting started around 9 a.m. and the gunman was a UPS employee. The witness said at least three people were shot.
“SFPD contained the incident & building is secure. The Special Ops continues to search the building for additional victims & witnesses,” the San Francisco Police Department said via Twitter.
It’s unclear how many people were injured, but officials said some have been taken to San Francisco General Hospital nearby. The status of the gunman was not immediately reported.
