RIVERTON, Utah, Oct. 18, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Riverton Elementary School was placed on a precautionary lockout Tuesday afternoon while Unified Police officers searched for a burglary suspect in the area.
The elementary school, at 13150 S. 1830 West, posted on its Facebook page at 2:30 p.m. that police advised the school to go on a lockout as a safety measure. The exterior doors were locked and no unauthorized personnel were allowed inside.
Unified Police Department spokesman Lt. Brian Lohrke said a containment area was established at approximately 1 p.m. after a residential burglary in the area of 13000 S. 2000 West.
The suspect was taken into custody at about 3:15 p.m., and the lockout on the school was lifted.
