F250 driver killed in head-on crash with semi in San Juan County

MONTICELLO, Utah, Aug. 14, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A driver died Tuesday after he drove erratically across the center line to hit a semi-truck head-on.

“At approximately 3:50 p.m. the driver of an F250 truck was traveling southbound on SR 191 in Monticello when they crossed into northbound traffic,” according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

“Upon crossing into oncoming traffic the F250 crashed nearly head-on with a  semi-truck. The driver died on scene.”

The driver of the semi was also injured, taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Lt. Cameron Roden of the UHP. Witnesses to the crash reported the F250 was “driving erratically,” he said.

The highway was closed for approximately three hours. As late at 9:45 p.m.Tuesday traffic was still being alternated, Roden said, until the semi could be removed from the crash scene.
