HURRICANE, Utah, July 22, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A female hiker died Saturday in Hurricane’s Quail Creek State Park after she was found “in distress due to not having enough water and the temperature being 106 degrees Fahrenheit,” police officials say.

“She was located on the trail, near the Quail Creek State Park, unresponsive,” says a statement from Hurricane City Police.

She was unresponsive, “and life-saving measures were conducted. Unfortunately, those efforts were not enough to save her.”

Her name is not yet being released.

“Our thanks to the Washington County Sheriff‘s Office, Hurricane Valley Fire and the State of Utah Department of Natural Resources for their assistance,” the police statement says.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family.”
