Man Killed In Washington County Fall Identified

WASHINGTON, Utah, Dec. 18, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — A man who died after falling 40 feet in Washington County’s Yankee Doodle Canyon Wednesday afternoon has been identified.

Kelvin Curtis, 25, was a of resident of St. George.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy Shauna Jones, deputies were called at about 4 p.m. with reports that a man had fallen. Emergency crews arrived and were able to hike to the man’s location, and confirmed he suffered fatal injuries.

Curtis had been in the area canyoneering with three other men, all in their 20s, at the time of the incident.

Washington County Search and Rescue crews worked to recover Curtis’ body. Deputies on scene said the SAR high angle team was working in a 600-foot-deep canyon to retrieve the victim’s body.
