Update: Female motorcyclist dies after crash that shut down Provo Canyon

PROVO CANYON, Utah, Sept. 19, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A female motorcycle rider has died after a crash that closed down Provo Canyon on Monday morning.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m. on SR-189 at mile post 18 at Lower Deer Creek Dam, Sgt. Todd Royce, Utah Highway Patrol, told Gephardt Daily.

The driver of the motorcycle, Colleen Robertson, 51, from Lyman, Wyoming, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Royce said a gray 2003 Toyota Tundra was making a left-hand turn from the Deer Creek Trail North trailhead to go northbound on SR-189. The driver of the Toyota Tundra failed to yield to a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle that was traveling southbound on SR-189.

The motorcycle T-boned the Tundra as it pulled out into the travel lane.

Robertson was transported by helicopter to Utah Valley Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
