Salt Lake Co. Sheriff’s Office seeks tips after shooting death of teen

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 5, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Salt Lake County Sheriff‘s Office has released information about a fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man.

Deputies responded at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday to the site, at the Mt. Olympus trailhead in unincorporated Salt Lake County.

“Upon arrival, they discovered Naod Welday, an 18-year-old male, suffering from multiple fatal gunshot wounds,” the Sheriff’s Department statement says.

“We are committed to finding those responsible for this senseless act of violence,” Sheriff Rosie Rivera said in the prepared statement. “Our detectives are working tirelessly to gather evidence and follow up on leads.”

The SLCSO asks anyone with information on the incident to contact the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office at 801-840-4000.

Gephardt Daily made multiple attempts on Saturday and Sunday to seek information from the SLCSO about this incident, and did not receive a response.
