SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 19, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A suspect is facing multiple charges after officers found him hiding in some bushes following a burglary in Salt Lake City.

Robert Ian Messer, 51, was booked into jail on suspicion of burglary, two counts of vehicle burglary, three counts of theft, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

The incident began in the area of 1060 N. Valentine St. (1225 West) just before 2:30 a.m. Monday.

“A witness reported that a male was breaking into their neighbor’s garage and that the suspect fled the scene on foot,” the news release said. “A K-9 officer and his partner arrived and located the suspect hiding in some bushes.”

They confronted the suspect, later identified as Messer, and were able to take him into custody.

Several items belonging to the victims were located with the suspect.

During the investigation, officers were able to link the property to the garage and two vehicles.
