SANDY, Utah, May 23, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was arrested  Sunday after crashing his car into a wall on Interstate 15 and then hitting another vehicle after turning the wrong way and heading up the on-ramp — all with his 4-year-old daughter in the car.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Colton Freckleton told Gephardt Daily that officers responded to the crash site, at 10600 South and I-15, at 5:50 p.m.

Freckleton said the northbound vehicle had veered into the wall on the freeway, but managed to turn around and leave the scene — going in the wrong direction. The driver then drove up the on-ramp at 10600 South, where he collided with another vehicle.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody and is facing charges of DUI and fleeing, Freckleton said.

No information was available regarding the man’s young daughter, but scanner traffic at the time indicated she told officers her back hurt; otherwise there was no mention of injuries.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
